Making a welcome return after an absence of several months, soloist Boris and Elena Kerimov (violin and cello) perform a crispy and lively choice of Baroque music with Christopher Duigan at the harpsichord and piano.

Playing music by JS Bach and two violin sonatas for violin by George Federic Handel, the programme is threaded with settings of Ave Maria as conceived by Bach, Gounod, Schubert, Caccini and Piazzolla. The soaring melodies and tightly drawn rhythmic structures are reflected by the resonant acoustic and rarefied architecture of St Georges Garrison Church.

Ave Maria takes place on March 23 at 11h00 St George’s Garrison Church. R50 entry by programme.

Directions: From West into Burger Street, through the traffic light and under the bridge in Devonshire Road. Secure parking in the church grounds and across the road. Booking is essential on 033 342-3051 or booking@musicrevival.co.za
