Suncoast Casino & Entertainment World has set the benchmark for live jazz in Durban. For the past two years, the regular Jazz Gigs at Suncoast have attracted a following of regulars who come to hear some of the best jazz talent around, in one of the most beautiful venues anywhere in the country!

This Easter Weekend, March 23, Suncoast is thrilled to have Jazz ‘giant’ Darius Brubeck and his Durban band Rolling Reunion live on the Suncoast Sundeck from 14h30 to 16h00.

After leaving full-time teaching at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, Darius Brubeck returned to South Africa and formed a Rolling Reunion band that includes well-known musicians who were his colleagues or studied with him during his 25 years in Durban. Their first appearance, sponsored by South African Port Operations was at the Awesome Afrika Music Festival in 2006. The Cape Town International Jazz Festival was proud to present a second version in 2007 and will be featuring yet another line-up at the Festival this March.

The current Durban band consists of Paul Kock on alto sax; pianist/keyboardist Burton Naidoo; bass player Concord Nkabinde; drummer Bruce Baker; vocalist Pamela de Menezes and of course leader and pianist Darius Brubeck.

Rolling Reunion's repertoire includes original compositions, standard and South African jazz and music that invites all to celebrate a common humanity and question where the planet is headed.

The music is free!
