The UKZN School of Music will present Durban-Maputo Connection: a high-energy concert of original music and well known South African and Mozambican songs performed by four top Mozambican musicians from Maputo and four South African musicians from Durban.

This new collaboration will feature Susan Barry (piano); Philani Ngidi (bass); Lihle Ngidi (lead vocals) and Lebo Sebele (vocals) from Durban, and Zoco Dimande (Guitar); Texito Langa (Drums & percussion); Jorge Sezar (vocals & percussion) and Rogerio Nhavene (percussion) from Mozambique.

The acclaimed musicians from the two major African cities (which are geographically close, yet divided by history) will explore and develop their own distinctive sounds to create a unique and organic Afro-fusion groove which showcases the brilliant and charismatic performers.

The concert will take place at the Centre for Jazz and Popular Music, UKZN on October 5 at 19h30. Tickets R40 and R20 (concessions) booked through Debbie Mari on 031 260 3353 or marid1@ukzn.ac.za
