The KwaZulu-Natal Philharmonic’s symphony concert on June 21 is titled Orchestral Showcase.

Under the leadership of conductor Leslie Dunner and with soloist Christopher Duigan at the piano, the outstanding talents of the musicians of the KZNPO are showcased in a programme featuring the music of two American icons: George Gershwin and Leonard Bernstein.

In the line-up, expect to hear Gershwin’s Cuban Overture, An American in Paris and Rhapsody in Blue as well as Berstein’s On the Town: Three dance episodes and West Side Story: Symphonic dances.

Rich and intricate, colourful and rhapsodic, energetic and jazzy – the programme offers an evening of sublime musical pleasure in the company of Africa’s premier orchestra.

The concert takes place in the Durban City Hall on June 21 at 19h30. There will be a pre-concert lecture hosted by the Friends of Music in the Royal Hotel at 18h15. Booking for both events at Computicket.
