Suncoast Casino hosts jazz sessions on Sunday afternoons. The next line-up will be on June 24.

The developmental band of the day will be The Brave Trio. Headed up by pianist / composer Nathi Shongwe, this classic trio combination features Brandon Cloete on drums and Mbuso Sokhela on drums. These young musicians have been together for three years and play jazz standards, some original African jazz and can’t resist the odd pop song given a ‘jazzy’ treatment.

The main band will be the Gerald Sloane Quartet. Durban’s top lead guitarist, the multi-talented Gerald Sloane, hooks up with three of his favourite jazz buddies to create vibrant Latino sounds. He is joined by electric bass player Monks Leggatt, acoustic guitarist Trevor Richards and drummer Selwyn Harry. Sloane also handles the vocals.
