NB: as of 23 September 2008, all new artSMart articles are being published on the site news.artsmart.co.za. A Special Charity Concert for the Benefit of Blessed Gérard’s Hospice, Mandini, featuring the Durban Symphonic Choir and guest stars will take place at Glenwood Boys High School Hall on May 6. The programme, which is titled Rhapsody, includes a variety of music with moods and styles that have a wide appeal. The conductor will be Dr Rosalie Conrad with piano accompaniment by Ann Duthie. The Blessed Gérard Hospice is a Government Registered Institution that provides care for up to forty patients, most of whom are unable to afford to contribute towards the cost of care. While the Institution accepts patients of all races who are suffering from a terminal disease, most of the current patients are Africans with Aids. Sadly, it is normal for up to five patients to die every week. The Hospice is excellently run by and does a lot of fine work, part of which is the provision of outpatient and day care services. The concert takes place at 14h30 on May 6 at Glenwood Boys High which is situated at 1 Nicholson Road, Glenwood. To book phone 031 205 5984.
