Every Wednesday the Durban Arts Association holds free lunch-hour concerts on the City Hall Steps. These concerts often feature groups that have made their names in the townships around Durban and have moved into the central city for the first time.

Mar 1: Afro Praises – a ten-member gospel group from eMlazi, with good dancing techniques.

Mar 8: Mshikashika – a masikanda group from KwaMashu comprising six men and three women who also provide the dancing and backing vocals to the support of a full band.

Mar 15: Abafana Besithembiso – a 12 member isicathamiya group with a well-rehearsed dance line-up and strong singers. Not to be missed.

Mar 22: No Name Brothers – this singing trio from eMlazi plays hits from the good old days, providing enjoyable listening with some good dancing.

Mar 29: God Apparatus: This is a unique kind of a group as it performs gospel as well as masikanda and reggae. Based in Durban central, their leader Mandla Zungu sings with the group.
