In the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra’s National Youth Concerto Festival and the KZN Young Performers Concert, Avigail Bushakovitz showed her remarkable talent as a violinist – receiving high praise for her performances.

In the KZNPO’s concert on March 15 at 19h30 in the Durban City Hall, she will be given a soloist platform on the WSS stage where she will play Saint-Saëns’s expressively subtle Third Violin Concerto. In the second half Dvorák shows his lighter, more optimistic side with his festive Eighth Symphony. Strongly influenced by Brahms and Schubert, as evidenced in this symphony, the composer produced a melodic symphony that is clearly a departure from the emotional intensity of its predecessor.

Emmanuel Siffert will conduct the programme, which also includes Mendelssohn’s Heimkehr aus der Fremde (Son and Stranger).
