The next concert in the KZN Philharmonic’s World Symphony Series Summer Season takes place on March 8 at the Durban City Hall at 19h30.

With Swiss conductor Emmanuel Siffert in his debut performance leading the KZNPO, acclaimed young pianist Konstantin Soukhovetski will perform Saint-Saëns’s Fifth Piano Concerto, a pictorial of musical impressions from the composer’s world travels. It is described as an extraordinary work that, despite uncertain beginnings, has become a celebrated inclusion in the symphonic repertoire.

Recipient of the 2006 Julliard William Petschek Piano Recital Award, Konstantin Soukhovetski has been lauded for his “…virtuosity, expressive vibrancy and infectious spirit”.

The programme also includes Delius’s The walk to the Paradise Garden and Franck’s Symphony in D minor.

Friends of Music will host a pre-concert lecture in the Royal Hotel at 18h00. Book at Computicket for both events.
