Lauded for his performance depth and adaptability, Jean-François Heisser is to play Bartók’s Third Piano Concerto with the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra tomorrow evening (September 21). The concerto is both buoyantly rhythmic and delightfully melodic.

Conductor François-Xavier Roth also leads a programme that includes Liszt’s Hungarian March and Tchaikovsky’s Romeo et Juliette. Stravinsky’s breathtaking Firebird Suite (1945) concludes the programme.

The concert, which is titled Musical Magnificence will take place in the Durban City Hall on at 19h30. Friends of Music will hold a pre-concert lecture in the Royal Hotel beforehand at 18h15. Booking is at Computicket.
