NB: as of 23 September 2008, all new artSMart articles are being published on the site news.artsmart.co.za. In August, the pro-active Music Revival organisation will offer two classical music recitals in Pietermaritzburg. Taking place on August 6 will be The Mozart Celebration which covers the 250 years from 1756 to 2006. Christopher Duigan continues his Mozart celebration with a classical piano programme which includes Mozart’s Sonatas in D major and A minor. Irish violinist Darragh Morgan (violin) and Mary Dullea (piano) will present a fascinating programme of classical and contemporary voiding music for a Sunday afternoon treat on August 20. Both musicians resided in KZN in 2004 and performed at various Music Revival concerts. Making a short visit to South Africa, their programme includes Sonatas by Beethoven, Schumann and music by Stravinsky, Enescu and Symanowski. The concerts take place at 15h30 at 35 Montgomery Drive in Pietermaritzburg. Tickets R60 include coffee. Bookings essential on 033 342 3051 or e-mail: chris@musicrevival.co.za (NB: On August 27, Darragh Morgan will also perform at an organ recital by visiting French organist Emmanuel Hocde as well as at a Baroque 2000 concert – contact Music Revival for more details)
