Northlands Girls’ High School has been selected from many schools which auditioned to participate in the Michaelhouse competition which takes place every second year. This year’s event will be held at the Balgowan school on August 12.

“School choirs are auditioned by Mr. Gerard du Toit who is the director of music at Michaelhouse School as well as the director of the KZN Youth Choir. He only accepts a maximum of seven choirs for the competition and we have been lucky enough to have now been accepted for the third time,” said Jenny Bonsignore, Northlands Choir Mistress.

“This is the third time the competition has been held and it is hard work on the part of the girls that has ensured our consistent selection. Northlands will compete against the Kearsney Choir which has just won two gold medals in China as well as Wykeham Collegiate, Durban Girls’ College, Queensburgh Girls' High, Durban Girls' High, Ferrim High and Hilton College.”

The Michaelhouse School Chapel Choir will also be featured but will not be part of the competition.
