Mina Yamazaki and Jannie Moolman are to star as the tragic Japanese Geisha Madama Butterfly and her lover Lt B F Pinkerton with Roberta Mattelli as Suzuki and Zbigniev Macias as the American Consul Sharpless in Giuseppe Raffa’s Operama visual extravaganza of Puccini’s much-loved opera Madame Butterfly. There will be one performance only on January 29 at 19h30 at the Minolta Loftus Superstadium in Pretoria. This marks the return of the company that presented the spectacular Aida in January last year at the same venue.

Presented by Big Concerts, the opera also features Marcus Desando, Katherine Henderson, Gabuka Booi, Xolela Sizaba and Simphiwe Qauane with the New Arts Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Maestro Raffa and the Cape Town Opera Chorus under the direction of chorus master Günter Walner. The performance starts the beginning of a year-long world tour after the production’s triumphant premiere in Verona.
