Northlands Girls’ High School pupils won four trophies at the annual Queensburgh Festival of the Arts, held during the July School holidays. These included Kelly Warriner, Vicki Fischer; Carmen Kinsey, Casey Chiang and Alexandra Lombard.

Many learners from schools in the Durban area take part in this festival and participants are adjudicated in age groups range from U8 to U18. Hundreds of entries are received for the different sections (Wind, Vocal, Piano, Strings. Ensembles and Small Orchestras). The Festival also caters for adult entries and, latterly, choir entries.

This Eisteddfod has been running for over 40 years and a winner’s concert is held where all the trophies are presented.
