jus’ jazzin’, the popular jazz venue on South Beach has rescheduled its weekly jazz programme. With a resident band each month, Thursday evenings will now be devoted to Pure Jazz, featuring the pick of Durban’s jazz ensembles. Currently playing is Swing Theory with Natalie Rungan who is developing a reputation for her exquisitely musical vocals, Bernard Ayisa blowing hot tenor sax and the truly talented Roland Moses (piano). Their rhythm section comprises the exciting Bongani Sokhele (bass) and Karim Darries (drums).

Sundays offers a wind-down evening titled Month of Sundays and will feature musicians who have a long-standing reputation as quality entertainers in Durban. This month jazz singer Anita Zucker and versatile veteran pianist Simon Kerdachi are joined by Peter Bosse (bass) and Gerald Kerdachi (drums). The band, also resident for the month, plays a range of jazz tunes concentrating on popular standards from the swing era.
