The BAT Centre in Durban's Small Craft harbour is resuming its popular free sundowner jazz concerts on the Deck starting this Friday and Sunday (March 10 and 12) a 18h00 with the six piece Afro-jazz band Jika.

Comprising Bongani Nkwanyana on bass and vocals; Nelson Gumede on piano and keyboards; Mdu Mahlobo on lead guitar; Zu Khuzwayo on alto-sax; Thabiso Mnanyana on drums and Siphiwe Cebekhulu on keyboards, Jika was the band that played with the late Sipho Gumede.

The BAT Centre wants to capitalise on Durban's balmy early autumn weather by hosting twice-weekly free jazz concerts on the Deck as the sun sets. Concerts start at around 18h00 and run until 20h00 every Friday and Sunday.

The re-introduction of the sundowner jazz series dovetails major refurbishments and renovations happening at the BAT Centre in keeping with the evolving needs of this busy community arts centre.

Entry to the concerts is free and all are welcome. More information from the BAT Centre during office hours on 031 332 0451.
