In January, 1986, enthusiasts such as Miriam and John Erasmus, Fiona Tozer, Dave Atkinson and Richard Haslop, to name but a few, got together with the aim of starting a club to encourage young acoustic musicians and give them a platform to 'hone' their performing skills, providing them with professional and semi - professional role models along the way.

20 years later, that policy still holds, and DFC meets on the first Tuesday of every month, with club singers and a guest artist/e at the Jazz Centre, University of KZN at 17h30.

“This is an "all call " to anyone who has been involved with the club over the years,” says Fiona Tozer. “We'd love to hear from you, and especially if you have any photos etc to share with us for our archives. We have plans to stage a Jubilee concert - date and time to announced, and would love to see as many friends as possible.”
