Since its inception in 1982, the George Male Voice Choir has achieved international acclaim through its performances across Western Europe, the Czech Republic and Great Britain, where it received standing ovations at all its formal recitals. In England the choir shared the Royal Albert Hall stage with other well-known South African such as Laurika Rauch, Steve Hofmeyer, Dozi, Lucas Maree and Nianell.

Rated as one of the best choirs in South Africa, the choir has performed on radio and television, and has produced four CD’s to date. The Choir’s repertoire ranges from sacred music through popular spirituals, opera choruses, songs from musicals, contemporary compositions and folk songs, and it often performs to a specific theme.

Founder and choir leader, Dalene Brits is also a pianist and composer. She has won numerous first prizes in the annual National Competition for Composers by the ATKV (Afrikaans Language and Culture Organisation) and composed many works especially for the George Male Voice Choir.
