The popular Durban Arts free lunch-hour concerts are presented on the City Hall Steps at 12h45 on Wednesdays.

The line-up for October is as follows:

October 5: Isingane Zomlungu (masikanda). A three piece group of singers and dancers all from the same area supported by a four-piece band. They have reached the finals of many music competitions.

October 12: Up 2 You (gospel). This all-male five member group comes from KwaMashu and has won more than three awards in competitions.

October 19: Meditators (reggae) This seven-member group made up of three front line singers and four instrumentalists started playing reggae music in 2000 in eMatendeni Township.

October 26: Amashinga Emvelo (imvumo). This type of music sounds very much like isicathamiya. The 16-member group is accompanied by indweba (whistle), isigubhu (drum), and izandla (clapping of hands). They also do a form of traditional dance called isishameni. The group has performed at prestigious functions in Enhlazuka in the Richmond area.
