Lex Futshane is an internationally-acclaimed jazz bassist who spent many years in Durban lecturing in the jazz department at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (of which he is also a graduate). He has played with local musicians such as Winston Mankunku (saxophone), Feya Faku (trumpet) and Bheki Mseleku (pianist), to name a few, and performed in the United States of America, at the Bath International Music Festival in the United Kingdom and in Seoul, Korea.

The prolific composer and performer has now formed a new and exciting jazz group with Johan Mtetwa on piano and Sipho Mtshali on drums called The Lex Futshane Trio. They will appear in a concert presented by WitsMusic at The Atrium, Wits East Campus, in Gauteng on August 13 at 18h30.
