The University of KwaZulu-Natal’s School of Music presents a free lunch-hour concert programme during semesters. The following is the August line-up:

August 8: Selected high school students from Music Revivals’ Sound Beginnings featuring outstanding young performers from the KZN Midlands and Pietermaritzburg schools: Travis Moore, Jenny Pott (flute) and Brent Black (saxophone) with Christopher Duigan (piano).

August 15: Madala Kunene (guitar) with Bernard Ndaweni (bass). With several solo albums behind him, Madala Kunene has built a solid following for his mesmerizing musical mix of Zulu, West African and blues elements – the duo will perform original compositions by Madala Kunene.

August 22: Big Idea - a multi-cultural hip-hop group seeking to form a sound that is exciting and mature, yet is committed to expressing an un-diluted social commentary. Delivered by MC Q (vocals), D Musgrave (bass), Two Gees (drums) & David Smith (piano).

August 29: Surendran Reddy Piano Recital.

August 31: Classical instrumentalists from the UKZN School of Music.
