The Independent on Saturday BATtle of the Bands held every Thursday at the BAT Centre’s recently-renovated BAT Café has entered the quarter-final stage which runs until November 23. The first group goes on shortly after 20h00 and the format of four bands an evening continues right through to the final.

“BATtle has certainly exposed the best emerging talent in Durban and is playing an important role in the current rejuvenation of the Durban music scene,” says Hennie Baird of the BAT Centre. “So far the contact list for the BATtle has been supplied to the BAT Centre, Dusk til Dawn and the Tusk Inn and they are booking the groups competing in the BATtle for performances in their venues. One of the real finds of the competition, Warwick Lobban, has already been booked to perform on the Living Treasures Festival at Shongweni from December 16 to 19. He joins the BATle in the future rounds as a special guest.
