Music Revival presents visiting pianist Melvyn Tan in a classical recital at the Epworth Chapel on March 2.

Melvyn Tan, who was featured on the cover disc of BBC’s Music Magazine Oct.1999, has recorded for some of the world’s most prestigious record labels. After studies in England and France he established an international career specialising in period performance such as performing on replicas of original instruments and within the performance style of the time.

Now playing a modern piano, he includes a brilliant selection of Sonatas by Scarlatti interspersed with interludes from Isaac Albeniz’s evocative Spanish series, Iberia.

In the second part of the programme he performs with wild delight Beethoven’s Waldstein Sonata.

The recital takes place at 19h00 on March 2 at the Epworth Chapel, Golf Road, Scottsville, Pietermaritzburg. Tickets R50 (R25 students). There is secure parking and tea/coffee will be served after the concert.
