NB: as of 23 September 2008, all new artSMart articles are being published on the site news.artsmart.co.za. The Playhouse Council has announced the dismissal of two senior staff members of The Playhouse Company, Managing Director Caesar Ndlovu, and Chief Financial Officer, Carlos Da Costa. Their dismissal arises out of disciplinary action that was implemented in May this year in accordance with the Council’s mandate to ensure good corporate governance at The Playhouse. In its attempt to be fair and just the Council appointed an independent chairman to chair the disciplinary hearing. For humanitarian reasons, the Council has decided to retire the Company’s outgoing Human Resources Manager, Fred Myburgh, who was also found guilty during the disciplinary hearing. Meanwhile it is business as usual as The Playhouse Company moves into top gear with a busy Festive Season programme that runs until December 31, before The Playhouse closes for an eight-week period of maintenance and renovation during January and February.
