Awesome Africa co-director Dan Chiorboli has returned from WOMEX in Germany with good news.

The Indian Ocean Festival Association (IOFA) has confirmed that the 2006 Indian Ocean Trade Fair & Conference will take place in Durban as part of the 2006 Awesome Africa/Celebrate Durban festivities. Besides the obvious prestige of hosting this event, Awesome Africa and Durban have the opportunity of developing closer relationships with hundreds of renowned festivals and cultural organisations within the greater Indian Ocean diaspora. This will also be a great opportunity of including South African festivals and musical organisations under one roof for the first time. This also provides an ideal opportunity to stimulate Cultural Tourism, Job Creation and Urban Regeneration.
