Baroque 2000's next concert promises to be a remarkable and unique event, presenting Irish music from the Baroque era.

Star uillean-piper Brian O hUiginn, making a brief tour of South Africa, will introduce the haunting and engaging sounds of this ancient Irish instrument. The programme also features a Concerto Grosso and Trio Sonata by Geminiani, the Italian composer who spent the last 30 years of his life in Dublin.

Also included are realisations of melodies by the blind Irish harper, Turlough Carolan (1670 to 1738). Belfast born Darragh Morgan once again directs the orchestra.

The concert is on October 24 at 11h15 at St Olav's Church, 214 St Thomas Road. Tickets at the door or from Computicket, enquiries to 031 312 5539, or sursouth@iafrica.com
