Dances and Dreams, the second in Baroque 2000’s series of concerts, investigates the intricacies of French and Italian Baroque music. The programme includes works by Muffat (from Armonico Tributo: Sonata V), Chelleri (Suite in E) and notably Rebel’s Les Characteres de la Danse, which exemplifies the different dance forms of the day in medley form, it should prove to be both informative and charmingly entertaining.

La Notte, Vivaldi’s concerto for Flute and Bassoon often referred to as the “Nightmare concerto” is a depiction of a sleepless night with which every insomniac will instantly sympathise. Evelyn Ballantyne (flute) and Vessela Minkova (bassoon) will team up to perform this exciting diversion.

The concert takes place at St Thomas’, Musgrave Road on May 2 at 11h15. Tickets R50 at the door or booked through Computicket.
