Lady Sings the Blues is a seductive and sophisticated star act that takes a cutting-edge look at the great icons of popular jazz, swing and blues. Front-lining leading musical star Karen Van Pletsen, it offers an evening of sassy, sentimental swing with musical direction by Evan Roberts at The Hexagon in Pietermaritzburg.

Joining Evan Roberts on piano are Bongani Sokela on double bass, Alan Judd on guitar, Shaun Petersen on drums and Ray Ebenezer on sax.

Karen Van Pletsen's potent emotive pull sparks Evan Robert's creative virtuosity in some refreshing new twists to golden standards and vibrant re-workings of contemporary hits in which the show salutes today's hugely popular retro swing-back to music of a sentimental nature, as performed by international artists such as Robbie Williams, Diana Krall and Norah Jones.

Lady Sings the Blues runs at The Hexagon in Pietermaritzburg on March 11, 12 and 13 at 19h30.

Tickets R50 (R40 concessions) with booking at the Hexagon Theatre or phone 033 260 5537.
