NB: as of 23 September 2008, all new artSMart articles are being published on the site news.artsmart.co.za. On December 7, the Rainbow Jazz Club in association with Smirnoff Vodka will present the group that provided the venue with one of the best concerts of 2002. Mabulu, which means dialogue, is a band from Maputo whose members range in age from singer Chonyl Angela (23) to Dilon Djindji (76). The mabulu they refer to is that between the older and the younger generation which, in their music, translates into bringing together the guitar and percussion-driven traditional marrabenta sounds of Maputo with the fresher hip-hop sound. Durban's Bafo Bafo in the form of guitar maestro's Syd Kitchen and Madala Kunene will perform an opening set. Tickets R35 at the door. Doors open 12h00 and the show starts at 13h00. More information on 031 702 9161 or 083 463 8044.
