NB: as of 23 September 2008, all new artSMart articles are being published on the site news.artsmart.co.za. Celebrating the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Tatham Art Gallery in Pietermaritzburg, Music Revival presents a classical concert in grand style. In recent years the Tatham has become a multi-disciplinary centre for the arts. The gallery represents an inspiring beacon of leadership in the arts and their relevance in current society. As a venue it presents a beautiful and magnificent concert space. In celebration of the founding of the gallery in 1903 and in response to Music Revival being honoured at the Tatham Art Gallery’s recent Centenary Ball, Christopher Duigan and friends present a concert of classical music in grand style. The programme includes music for a thrilling combination of string quartet (two violins, viola and cello) with piano including a complete Mozart Piano Concerto, excerpts form Piano Quintets by Brahms and Dvorak and a novel version of the Chopin Piano Concerto No 1 for piano and strings. The concert, which has been sponsored by an anonymous donor, will take place on November 23 at 15h30. Tickets R30. To book contact Music Revival on 033 342 3051 or e-mail: chris@musicrevival.co.za
