Created by Todd Twala and Thembi Nyandeni, Umoja is a world class musical embracing the rhythm of South Africa. Such has been the demand for this vibrant box office hit that there are currently two casts performing in the East and the United Kingdom respectively. The production returns to the Playhouse in December.

Umoja tells the story of the growth of South African Music, from the powerful rhythms of tribal music to the intricate steps of gumboot dancing, the foot-stomping jazz of Sophiatown, the uplifting full throated joy of Gospel and the pounding energy of Kwaito Pantsula.

Durbanites will be able to enjoy this show in their hometown at a reasonable cost -many South Africans who saw it on the West End paid up to $40 a ticket whilst others where unable to get tickets at all.

Umoja means the Spirit of Togetherness, which lends itself as a perfect theme for end of year functions of any kind. Group bookings are now open and for discounts and other information on fundraising opportunities and special schools performances contact Nikki on 031 266 7892.
