Durban’s PG Bison Buccaneers Field Band received a special merit award at the Field Band Foundation Championships held at Orlando Stadium in Soweto last month.

Sporting new costumes and a much smarter line-up and music ability, the band was part of this nationwide community project which aims to offer young people a creative and healthy musical and disciplined activity to occupy their after-school hours. There is strong focus on teamwork and children from disadvantaged areas are able to gain a sense of pride and achievement through this project.
