The Friends of the Durban Botanic Gardens are proud to host the legendary Durban band Landscape Prayers at the next Nedbank Music at the Lake Concert on August 31 at 14h30.

Drawing from its aural surroundings, selecting from and fusing the styles of local and imported music, Landscape Prayers has been able to extract a unique sound which reflects its location in Africa whilst acknowledging a European heritage. Maskanda harmonises with Celtic sounds and African rhythm interplays with the beat of other cultures, incorporating the blues, jazz, classics, bluegrass and rock.

Guitar maestro and chief song writer Nibs van der Spuy is joined by drummer Bruce Baker, Anton Cawthorne-Blazeby on violin and Logan Byrne on bass guitar. The group has performed at festivals within South Africa as well as in Nantes in France playing their unique blend of acoustic instruments with multiple musical themes. Recently the band returned from successful tours to Mocambique, Swaziland and Grahamstown.

Bring along picnic basket and blankets, and enjoy a relaxing outing with family and friends.

Tickets R35 (R25 senior citizens, R20 Friends of the Gardens/students). Children under 12 free. Book at Computicket or from the Info Centre in the Gardens and on the concert day from 12h00. More information from 031 202 5819.
