Music lovers can look forward to a series of three Classics by Candlelight concerts during July and August in Durban.

In these technological days, as the melodic and flawlessly executed sounds of Vivaldi, Mozart, Handel and many more fill the hall, and with the musicians resplendent in full Baroque costume, audiences at the Classics by Candlelight concerts are about to be transported into a time and place where the hustle and bustle of 2003 can be instantly forgotten.

Apart from displaying superb musicianship, the new Classics by Candlelight series will put audiences at their ease and make them laugh with amusing and informative introductions to the works to be performed. The musicians are drawn from the very top of the music-making profession in Durban.

The next concert in the series takes place on July 24 and offers a programme of opera, romantic songs and piano performed by well-known opera singers from Durban.

The last concert in the three-part series takes place on August 7 with KZNPO harpist Linor Griffith appearing with members of the KZNPO in a programme featuring well-known harp concertos.

All concerts take place in the auditorium of the Maranatha Christian Reformed Church at 17 Willowvale Road, Glenwood. Concerts start promptly at 19h00. Tickets are available at Computicket or on 031 465 9216.
