The popular Rivets Jazz Club at the Durban Hilton International hosts regular jazz sessions at 20h00.

On March 13, the featured artist will be a jazz quartet which includes a father and son combo. Roy is a first-class pianist who has recently relocated to Durban and his son Shaun is one of the city’s best-loved drummers. Their repertoire and style appeals to both the serious jazz lovers and novices to the genre.

Guitarist Gordon Franks will be performing on March 20 with his presentation titled Frankly Speaking. He specialises in smooth jazz, taking his cue from the likes of George Benson and Michael Franks. This talented and hard-working musician presents contemporary jazz standards and patrons can look forward to hearing some of their favourite numbers authentically reproduced.

An Afro-Jazz Ensemble will be the attraction on March 27. Guitarist Vusi Mbuto composes his own works and is eager to share them with a discerning audience. Gathering rhythm section from the University pool, this self-taught musician promises an evening of fresh and exciting local jazz.
