The well-known and highly popular Rainbow Restaurant & Jazz Club situated at 23 Stanfield Lane in Pinetown has started a series of free entrance concerts. These will take place every Thursday and Friday evening from 17h00.

The line-up is as follows:

February 20 and 21: Zwakala in concert plus Ilanga Lezithebe. Zwakala is a seven piece Afro-Jazz/fusion band from Clermont township best known for their work with the silky voiced singers of Malkia. The members of the group are long-time friends of the Rainbow and they approached the venue with a request to allow them to take up residency as they were tired of rehearsing week in and week out. “They wanted to play and so we have made it possible,” says co-owner of the Rainbow, Neil Comfort. “All they ask is for donations from audience members.

“The Thursday concert will be combined with our regular monthly promotion, Ilanga Lezithebe,” says Neil. “This is the day of the month when we get a chance to say thank you to our regulars for their support, with a free meal consisting of beef curry, stiff pap and shatini being served to everyone in the house at 18h00.”

Zwakala will perform until March 14 in the Thursday/Friday free concerts at 17h00.
