The Rainbow Restaurant & Jazz Club at 23 Stanfield Lane in Pinetown celebrates its 21st birthday on December 17.

To celebrate this milestone, the Kwa Muhle Local History Museum in Ordnance Road, Durban, will host an exhibition of the Rainbow’s archive material from December 12.

The exhibition will display the wealth of material gathered at the Rainbow over the last 21 years. This is also a time to celebrate the role that the Rainbow and its founder, Ben Pretorius, played in the musical and cultural landscape of Durban.

Celebrating his long-time association with the Rainbow, top guitarist Sipho Gumede will perform at the restaurant on December 15. Tickets R40. On December 16 (public holiday), there will be a free concert featuring emerging groups from the Pinetown area. The Clermont based five piece swing band Dots 'n Dashes will help close the year with a Sophiatown themed swing on December 29. Tickets R25.
