Earlier today, the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre caught on fire. The show is currently hosting Tim Plewman’s Return of the Caveman and tonight should have been the 1,001st performance.

The show’s publicist Illa Thompson reports on the fire damage: “Not too badly (fortunately) - side and top tabs caught alight because one of the stage lights overheated and set fire to the side curtain but really bad smoke damage.

“We have had to cancel Tim's show for tonight (Caveman - 1001st performance!). The whole theatre is clouded in a black smoke and everything is soot-covered. It is all so reminiscent of the Opera fire. That smell is so distinctive and the memory of it never leaves you.”
