The University of Natal’s music department offers a wide ranging programme in its regular free lunch-hour concerts in Howard College Theatre from 12h15 to 13h00.

On August 23, the focus is on North Indian classical dance when Manesh Maharaj presents a Kathak recital. The mood swings to opera on August 30 when soprano Bronwen Forbay accompanied by Bobby Mills on the piano performs Manuel da Falla’s Siete Canciones as well as other opera arias.

On September 3, the department plays host to the St Andrew’s College and the Diocesan School for Girls from Grahamstown. The concert will feature the schools’ wind and chamber orchestras as well as a jazz band, chamber choir and brass quintet.
