The Durban Jazz Festival was due to take place at the end of September. However this was postponed as some of the American artists and support organisers decided not to travel in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks on America.

The festival is now set to take place on December 15 and 16 at the Point Waterfront and will feature local and international artists. Hopefully, it will become an annual event attracting thousands of visitors to Durban.

American-based Black Entertainment Television, the biggest African-American entertainment company in the world, will film the event for a one-hour special as well as two magazine shows, both hosted by former Miss KwaZulu-Natal and Miss South Africa Kerishnie Naicker.

These programmes will be screened later to approximately 85 million homes in the United States, Canada and Europe as well as to 720,000 TV owners and their families across Africa. A live radio broadcast will also be beamed out to Washington, Atlanta and Chicago.
