In August, 12 writers participated in a radio drama residency in Mpumalanga. Hosted jointly by PANSA, the British Council and BBC World Service Drama, the writers worked intensively with Marion Nancarrow, Executive Producer for BBC’s World Service Drama and award-winning British playwright, Tina Pepler.

KZN writers who were part of residency were Kobus Moolman and Tamantha Hammerschlag. The residency aimed to encourage stronger writing for radio and included immersion in radio ideas; adaptation; concentration on character and ideas on sound.

The residency was generously sponsored by the British Council and was the second phase of a project in a series of radio drama workshops run by Nancarrow and Pepler around the country.
