Every industry recognises excellence. The movie world has its Oscars for outstanding performance in acting, direction, special effects and many other categories. Old Mutual Properties recognises retailers for outstanding performance in their shopping centres.

Old Mutual Properties will host their first Superstar awards this year to acknowledge the retailers who have excelled on this platform. The awards will take place regionally in each shopping centre and the winners will be put forward to attend the National Superstar Awards ceremony.

Retailers at Gateway Theatre of Shopping were awarded last month.

The top three performers at Gateway were Afrokwazi, Vernon White Jewellers and the kiosk Carrol Boyes. Storm Ferguson of Carrol Boyes received no less than three awards, including the Top Performer award at Gateway.

Special entertainment awards were awarded to Fantasy Forest, IMAX, WaveHouse and Ster-Kinekor Gateway.

Ster-Kinekor Gateway is currently the number one Cineplex in the country with an average weekly cinema attendance of more than 40,000 cinema-goers per week.
