Andre the Hilarious Hypnotist is back at the Playhouse until July 28 and is living up to his show title New Skits For Andre with gusto. His new show is a rollicking fun mixture of old favourites and hilarious new skits.

"Every show is different," said Andre, "because the people on stage and their reactions differ." According to the country's most popular hypnotist, imaginative people are the easiest to hypnotise. "In the shows I am looking more for Star Trek fans than accountants. Creative people, whether they are men or woman are more likely to be hypnotised faster," he says.

Although, Andre has noticed that more men volunteer to get up on stage and feels that men have an ability to make fools of themselves. Andre studied hypnotism and psychology in Britain and the United States and is chairman of the local branch of the British Council of Professional Stage Hypnotics. He makes a strong distinction between his work and that of the medically qualified hypno-therapists and assures his audiences it is not dangerous and a person cannot get "stuck" in a trance. All hypnosis is self induced - "I am merely the external operator" says Andre.
