The Rough Guide’s popular pocketbook travel publications Rough Guides are 20 years old this year. 1982 saw the publication of the first guide The Rough Guide to Greece and two decades later, the people who set up the company still run it. To celebrate the 20th birthday, the books have been completely redesigned.

“We’ve re-thought the whole design and content, made the books more visually appealing, a lot easier to use and navigate and better to browse for anyone coming across them for the first time,” says Mark Ellingham, publisher of Rough Guides.

The organisation has moved outside the travel field and also presents Rough Guides to musical instruments, theory of music etc.

Rough Guides still retain their original qualities: attitude and critical opinion.
