The 1999 South African Women’s Arts Festival will take place in the Playhouse complex from August 5 to 8. Transnet has generously agreed to become the official sponsor of this year’s festival and the Playhouse Company and women artistes in general are indebted to them for their foresight.

This year, festival-goers can expect an array of theatre, poetry, cabaret and visual arts embracing the spirit and objectives of the festival. The aims of the festival are to celebrate, entertain, educate and lobby so that every woman has an equal chance to succeed in a field that affirms her artistry and talent and rewards her creativity and hard work.
