South Africa’s most prestigious fashion event, the Fairlady/ Gossard South African Fashion Awardsin association with M-Net, is an opportunity not to be missed for young up-and-coming designers and SA’s top well-known fashion designers.

The award for best young designer applies to anyone under 30 working or studying in the fashion industry. After checking the brief in the May 26 issue of Fairlady, designers should send their portfolio of designs to Fairlady’s offices by July 2. The top prize is R25 000 cash with R15 000 cash for the two runners-up. Each finalist will receive R800 towards making up the garments for the show.

The Catherine Award acknowledges flair, talent and significant contribution to the South African fashion trade by a South African designer. The winner receives a statuette plus two return air tickets to London and free entry for two to the International Fashion Week, complete with accommodation at the Athenaeum Hotel in London.

The South African Fashion Awards gala ceremony takes place on November 11 at the Rotunda at the Bay in Cape Town and there will be a repeat performance at a luncheon on November 12. M-Net will screen the initial awards ceremony approximately 10 days after the event
