NB: as of 23 September 2008, all new artSMart articles are being published on the site news.artsmart.co.za. With the support of Ford Foundation, the Young Arab Theatre Fund (YATF) launched Art Moves Africa (AMA) in July 2005. This represented the first mobility fund for artists and cultural operators within the African continent. Since its inception AMA has received more than 120 applications in total, almost 30 applications per session, covering the different African regions. 50% of these applications targeting diverse artistic disciplines and cultural advocacy initiatives were awarded grants to support partnerships, participation in festivals, biennials, artist residencies, productions, touring, workshops and professional development meetings. The next grant review session of AMA is planned for September 2006. For mobility projects planned between October 13 2006 and February 12 2007, don't miss the deadline of September 1 2006 to send applications. For further information please, visit the Young Arab Theatre Fund website at www.yatfund.org (after choosing a language preference, click on the orange bar on the right to enter the section dedicated to Art Moves Africa) or contact AMA office at e-mail: ama@yatfund.org or Tel. (+32) 2 203 12 95.
