NB: as of 23 September 2008, all new artSMart articles are being published on the site news.artsmart.co.za. Journalist Niki Moore is currently preparing her perfume Sense of Africa, which she intends launching in May at the Indaba tourism trade show. Described as having a heavy scent, the perfume has rose geranium as its base. Presented in special beaded bottles, the perfume will retail at R150. “There is no other South African scent on the market,” states a Daily News article on Niki, “and she wants the unique perfume to become a “tourist curio” at resorts, gift shops and airports. She also hopes that the event organisers will want them as gifts for conference delegates.” Niki employs 40 people in her business from as far afield as Nkandla and Empangeni, in the manufacture of the perfume and the beadwork that adorns the bottles.
