A tradition started more than 20 years ago by the Singh family of Stanger has seen beautifully carved armchairs made of tambuti wood make their way into such distinguished residences as Buckingham Palace, the White House and the home of the former Indian president. The latest home to be graced with a fine handcrafted Tambuti armchair is Mahalambandlopsy, the official resident of President Thabo Mbeki. This chair is made out of a rare tambuti tree about 800 years old and was made by Kuber Eadhev Singh and presented to the president when he received the Freedom to the Dolphin Coast recently.
