Earlier this year Ningizimu School for the Severely Mentally Handicapped became the first LSEN (Learners with Special Education Needs School) to enter an international web site design competition called ThinkQuest.

“We were welcomed by our international partners Jason and Janine Yeo, who are two school students who live in Singapore,” explains Ningizimu art teacher Robin Opperman. “They have allowed us to prepare artwork for their website, and for one of our students Siswe Ngcobo to become an official team member!” The website address is http://library.advanced.org/27629

Latest news is that Ningizimu’s art class is the national winner in the category Project of the Year for the Miracles in Education Campaign presented by the READ Educational Trust. The awards ceremony will take place on November 2 in Johannesburg at the SABC and Robin Opperman will accept the award on behalf of Ningizimu.
